Publication Ethics

The Editorial Board of the scientific journal Scientific Papers of Vinnytsia National Technical University operates in accordance with international principles of academic integrity and ethical standards of scientific publishing. These include requirements for honesty, confidentiality, proper editorial oversight of publications, management of potential conflicts of interest, and adherence to principles of academic responsibility.

In its activities, the editorial office follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and uses the guidelines provided in the Publishing Ethics Resource Kit developed by Elsevier.

The editorial policy of the journal is based on the following principles:

  • adherence to scientific rigor, objectivity, professionalism, and support for relevant and significant research;
  • respect for all participants in the scientific publishing process;
  • application of a double-blind peer review process involving independent experts;
  • providing authors with guidance on preparing manuscripts in accordance with international indexing requirements and academic writing standards.

Research Data Sharing Policy

The journal supports the principles of openness and transparency in scientific research while ensuring the protection of authors’ rights and compliance with ethical standards.

Data underlying the results presented in a publication may be provided only upon an official request submitted through the editorial office and with the consent of the author(s).

To obtain access to data, the interested party must submit a request to the editorial office specifying the purpose of data use. The editorial office forwards the request to the author(s) for consideration. If consent is granted, the applicant will receive further instructions, including the possible signing of a confidentiality agreement.

The editorial office does not require authors to share data in cases where legal, ethical, or confidentiality restrictions apply. In case of refusal by the author(s), the applicant will be notified accordingly.

Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief makes decisions on the publication of submitted manuscripts based on the journal’s editorial policy, the scientific significance of the work, and the reviewers’ recommendations.

The editor also considers issues related to plagiarism prevention, copyright infringement, and the dissemination of inaccurate or misleading information.

Decisions regarding publication are made solely on the basis of the scientific content of the manuscript, regardless of the authors’ race, gender, religious beliefs, nationality, or political views.

Unpublished materials may not be used by editors in their own research without the written consent of the authors.

Confidentiality

The editor and members of the editorial board do not disclose information about submitted manuscripts (including authors, content, and subject matter).

Any manuscript received for review is treated as a confidential document. The editor and editorial board undertake not to disclose information about submitted manuscripts unless necessary, except to the authors, reviewers, other academic advisors, and the publisher.

Conflict of Interest Policy

Unpublished materials submitted to the journal may not be used by editors, reviewers, or any other parties in their own research without the prior written consent of the authors.

Editors, reviewers, and scientific advisors must refrain from participating in the evaluation of manuscripts in the event of a potential conflict of interest arising from professional, scientific, financial, or personal relationships with the authors, institutions, or other organizations associated with the submitted work.

The Editorial Board of the journal Scientific Papers of Vinnytsia National Technical University ensures the consideration of all conflict situations and claims related to submitted manuscripts or already published materials and takes appropriate measures in accordance with the principles of academic integrity.

The editorial office considers appeals and reports concerning possible violations of ethical standards or misconduct in research or publications submitted by readers, reviewers, or other interested parties. If necessary, the editorial office reserves the right to inform the scientific community about the outcomes of such cases.

Post-Publication Discussion Policy

The journal Scientific Papers of Vinnytsia National Technical University supports open scientific dialogue and encourages constructive discussion of the results of published research.

To promote scientific communication, readers and authors may participate in the discussion of articles on PubPeer, an international platform for post-publication review and commentary on scientific works.

All articles in the journal are published with assigned DOIs, ensuring their proper identification and enabling further discussion on scientific online platforms, including PubPeer.

Comments and discussions must comply with the principles of academic integrity, be professional in content, and focus on the scientific analysis of research results.

In the event of substantiated remarks or reports of potential violations, the editorial office conducts an appropriate investigation in accordance with the journal’s ethical policy and procedures for correction or retraction of publications.

The journal aims to promote a culture of open, evidence-based, and respectful scientific discussion after publication.

Ethical Requirements for Research

Research involving human participants must be conducted in accordance with ethical standards and must be approved by the relevant institutional ethics committees where the research was carried out.

In manuscripts presenting the results of surveys, interviews, or other forms of interaction with research participants, authors must confirm that participation was voluntary, that written informed consent was obtained (including consent for publication of results), and that confidentiality, anonymity, and the absence of any form of coercion or discrimination were ensured.

Ethical aspects of the research must be properly justified and, where possible, supported by references to international professional standards and ethical codes, including:

  • the Code of Ethics of the American Sociological Association (1997);
  • the ICC/ESOMAR International Code on Market, Opinion and Social Research and Data Analytics (2025);
  • the European Commission Guidelines on Ethics and Data Protection (2021).

Publications containing results of research involving human participants must state that the study was conducted in accordance with the above ethical standards.

Prior to the commencement of the research, approval must be obtained from a local Institutional Review Board (IRB) or another authorized ethics committee, confirming compliance with national and international requirements.

Research participants must be fully informed about:

  • the purpose of the study;
  • the conditions of participation;
  • the use of collected data;
  • guarantees of anonymity and confidentiality;
  • potential risks associated with participation.

If ethical approval is not required for a particular type of research, authors must provide appropriate justification, either in the form of a formal exemption issued by an ethics committee or a reference to national or local legislation regulating such cases.
